The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has trained 100 youths in Post Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (Post-SADTS) and  small stock ( GOAT) production, in Ondo state.

Fifty of the unemployed youths were trained in Post Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme while another fifty were trained in goat production.

The Director General DG, of NDE, Mallam Abubarkar Nuhu Fikpo, said in Akure that the programme was designed by the Federal Government to curb mass unemployment.

Mallam Fikpo who was represented by the Ondo state Coordinator of NDE, Rev. Gbenga Olumehintade, noted that the Post-SADTS scheme was one of the schemes of rural employment promotion department aimed at enhancing the beneficiaries capacity with knowledge of modern agricultural policies.

According to him the scheme will benefit the participants by providing value, provision of more food, create employment, remove drudgery from the practice of Agriculture and expand the scope of sources of fundi for Agriculture projects.

On the training of goat production, the DG, said that it’s another means of foreign exchange earning because the skin is used by industries for manufacturing of leathers.

. This scheme will also play an important role in the socio economic, environment and religious life of the farming communities in terns of income and supply of food for the local population and the community at large”

Fikpo, therefore, advised the participants to avail themselves of the rare opportunity by being punctual, regular and attentive during the training period.
