Wrecks removal project reaches 70% completion – NPA

Chief Michael Ajayi, General Manager, Public Affairs, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), on Thursday said the ongoing wrecks removal project had reached 70 per cent completion. Ajayi said that the Federal Government had given NPA approval to remove 31 critical wrecks posing problems to navigation in the Lagos waters.

He said that NPA contracted the project to the Lagos Channel Management (LCM) which he said had gone far in the execution of the project. The NPA spokesman said that the project had to do with the removal of some critical wrecks posing problems to navigation in the Lagos waters. Ajayi said that the project, which was supposed to run for 500 days, had gone through about 300 days. He said that the project would be finalised on or before the expiration of the 500 days set for its completion.
