World Igbo Congress holds Sept 2-5 in US

BENIN CITY – Igbo in the United States and Europe, under the aegis of the World Igbo Congress, WIC, are to hold a summit in September to discuss  problems confronting the Igbo in global economy and politics of the nation.

In  a statement, Chairman, World Igbo Congress, Mr Joe Eto, said the summit, which would hold in Houston, Texas, United States, from September 2-5, would be attended by traditional rulers, Igbo academia and other stakeholders.

The statement reviewed the situation of the Igbo since the end of the civil war and regretted that the area had suffered neglect.

It stressed the need for the “preservation of Igbo heritage and necessary re-alignment of the current ethnic values to support a survival  strategy.”
