Raymond Emamezi Okoro popularly known as Ray’Em has hinted on how he has conquered years of introvert with music.

The Nigerian musician who was born in Ughelli, Delta State, but moved to Lagos, Nigeria in 2013. Having attended Delta State University; Ray’Em has been exposed to different genres of music at very young age. According to Ray’Em “I have always loved music, my parents exposed me to a plethora of music genres from a very young age, being ardent music lovers themselves.

When I was 9 or so, I stumbled on a lyric book belonging to one of my cousins who used to write her own songs and that woke something up in me. I began to write and sing my own songs as inspired, but I never recorded. It wasn’t until I developed a passion for hip-hop music and rapping that I really ventured into working with producers and hitting the studio to record my own music”

Ray’Em a soulful artist and lyricist has grown to thrive on different genres of music from Afro-pop, Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, Trap; he does it with no limits.

His versatility makes him such a talent to look out for in the Nigerian music industry. He plans to release an official single in January 2022 titled “Jason” and an EP later in the year; as he aims to grow his fan base more across the nation and internationally.

The passion towards creating music can be visibly seen in how he explains his love for it and how he puts himself out there with a positive attitude. When asked about how music makes him feel passionate he said “It’s an avenue for me to conquer my personal fears, I’m naturally an introverted, back of the class, background guy. Years and years of self-esteem issues have conditioned me that way. Thus, I’ve invested my energy behind the scenes into the successes of other people for a long time. But now I’m stepping forward into the light and conquering my own fears of attracting attention to myself”

Also asides from making beautiful music for his fans, Ray’Em is also a photographer and cinematographer, and also a graphic and UX designer in which he also uses to personally fund his music majorly with these passions. He also loves art, movies, books and traveling.

Currently, Ray’Em is only focused on making music for his fans, and also how he can break more boundaries internationally so they can get to listen to his sound and know him better. His forth-coming EP will be a stepping stone for him to achieve greater things through his passion for his music.

He gets inspired by the likes of MI Abaga, Nicki Minaj, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Kizz Daniel just to name a few. Because these musicians have set their precedent and redefined what it means to be special, which usually is not according to what’s conventionally accepted.
