Every music artist has his or her own nomenclature. Not in the name they bear but in their musical DNA that differentiates them from every other act out there. Like fingerprints no two artists are the same and this is a fact that resonates with Nigerian artist based in Warsaw, Poland and born Idris Olabamiji Bashir and known musically as 7Star Dris.

Introducing himself, he said, “I am 7Star Dris, a renowned freestyle artist based in Warsaw, Poland. I have been in the game since 2010 and I have had different shows in countries such as Poland (Poland open mic), Netherlands (Amsterdam Christmas Carnival show) and Finland (Helsinki African award night show),”

Speaking further, he added, “7Star Dris is an African Indigenous artist, graphic designer and songwriter based in Warsaw. What differentiates me from other artists out there is, I have a steady source of motivation that drives me to always do music in easy ways. I’m passionate about my content, I love what I do. This passion led me to challenge myself daily and learn new skills that help me to do something extraordinary.”

Before music took hold of him, for about a decade, he was living life as graphic designer for different artists and promoters. He spent a lot of time together with them and from there he started creating content, lyrics and stories.

“My influences are creating diverse and borderless music, content and designs that are relatable to different cultures, traditions and communities,” he stated.

On what he means by describing himself as a freestyle artist, he explains thus, “I don’t write down most of my music until after listening to the final mix.”

Freestyle or not, 7Star Dris draws his inspiration from several sources. And the most potent of it all is his environment and his background. Furthermore his creative mind as a graphic artist contributes helluva a lot in his creative process.

He explains, “The community I was born and grew up in has different vibes and understanding to the world I live now. So, those transition periods and moments have many stories to write about. I also started graphics on analog, mixing colors and drawing. For some reason, its sticks to the brain. Moreover, my inspiration comes from all the deep local dialect my late mum always used when advising me about life in general.”

7Star Dris made his musical debut with a party jam single in 2013 titled “Flex” produced by him. His second effort which truly established his arrival as an artist of serious intent was another party banger “Jaiye” released in 2014. TStar Dris followed up with yet another one“Cool Jam” in 2015

In addition to his personal efforts as a music artist he has been involved in making many tracks and hit singles with different artists. In this regard, he did many singles’ covers, concerts, shows and club fliers.

He was part of the team and performer in Poland Open Mic, Amsterdam Christmas Carnival and Helsinki African award among others.
