ENUGU- THE National Chairman of Peoples Progressive Alliance, PPA, Chief Sam Nkire, has advised Governor Rochas Okorocha not to be in a hurry to correct the ills of the immediate past administration of Ikedi Ohakim in order to avoid mistakes.
Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, yesterday, Nkire said Okorocha was anxious to deliver to Imo people at the shortest possible time, but stressed the need for him to pause and ponder in order not to take unpopular actions.
Nkire, whose party won the 2007 governorship election that brought Ohakim to power in Imo State, said the former governor may have done a few things wrongly but that those things must be corrected through due process.
He said: “Much as PPA may still be lamenting Ohakim’s departure from PPA to PDP, I believe that Governor Okorocha is in too much haste in cancelling the 10,000 jobs created by Ohakim.”
According to Nkire, PPA is still in court over the election of the 27 local government chairmen in Imo State.
He insisted that Governor Okorocha had no right to dismiss “elected” chairmen, no matter how faulty the process of their election was.
