South-South campus of Nigerian Law School takes off

The South-South campus of the Nigerian Law School Yenagoa has taken off with a total of 252 students.The sprawling campus which is located at Agudama-Epie in the outskirts of Yenagoa the sprawling campus is equipped with the state of the art facilities including an auditorium, classrooms/ICT Library with 265 computers, clinic and giant 500kva plant among others to make learn conducive for the students.

Director of Administration of the South-South campus of the Nigerian Law School, Dr (Mrs) Francisca Amene and the Deputy Director (Academics), Mrs. Felicia Emuneje who announced the take off of the institution to newsmen in Yenagoa said the decision of the location in Yenagoa the heart of the South-South will promote law education in the country.

The Director of Administration said though the institution is new and experiencing some expected difficulties, it is expected to maintain the standard of Law education.

Mrs. Anene who spoke to newsmen after a tour of the institution facilities and interactive session with staff and students, noted that with the provision of a standard facility and the existence of an auditorium, an ICT library centre, five standard classrooms and a modern clinic with two wards, the institution may surpass those earlier sited in Abuja and Enugu.

She commended the Bayelsa State government for the provision of various facilities in the institution including the promised internet facilities, two coastal buses to convey staff of the school from their estate to their place of work.

She also lauded their host community for the existing cordial relationship saying contrary to the perception they had about the state, “the people are very accommodating and peaceful.”

The Chief librarian of the Law School, Mr. Olayinka Adewunmi, conducted newsmen through the 80 persons capacity library of the school and announced that with the expected download of Legal media digital update for the library, ”the institution can compete with others existing in Abuja and Enugu.”

Governor Timipre Sylva had during a visit to the institution described the take off as a dream come true having worked relentlessly towards its establishment.

He assured the Law School of the government’s commitment and cooperation to development of the campus towards making it the best in the country.
