After five months of slamming ban on the movie, the National Film and Video Censors Board(NFCVB), has given the producer of the action packed thriller “Dangerous Men”, Mr. GuGu E. Michaels the green light to release the film in Nigeria.

The film was banned few days after it was billed to hit the cinemas last year by the censors board. The regulatory body claimed the movie portrayed the country in a bad light.

GuGu broke this cheering news to HVP on facebook. He disclosed that the film will commence showing at Silverbird and Nollywood cinemas nationwide from June10, before it will later be moved to Ghana and other African theaters.

Narrating the circumstances that surrounded the lifting of the ban, GuGu said, “the censors board gave me a correction sheet to use and re-edit the movie to their standard. I mean a lot of the scenes from the movie have been re-arranged, and some scenes deleted.”

However, despite re-editing the film, the producer of the thriller said “Dangerous Men” is still powerful and full of action, adding that “the messages I wanted to bring across is still there, not as harsh and up-front as I would have liked never the less Dangerous Men is still a powerful movie.” On what he wants to do with the movie, the American based Nollywood producer said “I want to use this movie to show the world that Nigerian film makers are not sleeping. We are coming up very strong and we can compete with any western director(s) on their level even though we don’t have their kind of budgets. The good thing is that I shot the movie in Lagos.”

According to GuGu, the thriller will start showing at Silverbird cinema, and Nollywood cinemas nationwide from June 10, and thereafter, it will be shown in Ghana and other African countries. “I am very excited. Once I’m done with the African market, I will take “Dangerous Men” to the international market like US, London, Canada, Italy, Germany.” he said.
