OWERRI-Students of Imo State University, IMSU, Owerri, yesterday embarked on a protest march to Government House, Owerri, demanding the immediate removal of one of their lecturers (names withheld) in the Economics Department.

The angry students, who started the protest from their campus, alleged that the lecturer had formed the ugly habit of selling his handout to students at very exhorbitant price.

The students equally alleged that the same lecturer stabbed a student with a knife when they protested the reduction of duration of their examination, an action they regarded as high handed and illegal.

Besides, the students said there were other complaints against the lecturer which necessitated their preferring to lay ther complaint directly before the state government.

Addressing the students, the Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso, commended them for going about their protest in a peaceful manner and urged them to remain law-abiding and committed to their studies.

Urging them to set an example that would be emulated by other students in the country, Agbaso also promised that government would look seriously into their complaint.

Secretary to the Government of Imo State, SSG, Professor Anthony Gozie Anwuka, while also addressing the students, said the state government would not tolerate any act of indiscipline or corrupt practices by any individual or group.

He advised the students to remain calm while government took a decision on their complaint.
