Former Green Eagles star, Kelechi Emeteole has warned coach Samson Siasia to be more conscious about the precarious weather condition in the eastern part of Africa where Ethiopia is located.
The Bronze medalist in the 1976 edition of the Nations Cup held in Ethiopia also said that the Ethiopians are not a match for the Super Eagles knowing that it is a football game and not marathon.
“We all knew that we will play in Ethiopia in Addis Ababa long ago, so we would have prepared like we did in 1976, when we went to surrounding countries close to them for three weeks before the commencement of the tournament so we could acclimatize. Football has to do with proper planning and if the football authorities have seen that the weather has a challenge, they would have thought of it well.
“Ethiopian cannot be compared to Nigeria, they do cannot pose any opposition to us because they are not a football playing country like ours. If it were to be athletics, I will say they will come top but being football, I am sure we will soar. I want us to put our house in order, close all unnecessary holes, so victory will be ours,” Emeteole said.
On the game against Argentina, the former Heartland coach said Nigerians should not expect victory.
“Nigerians always expect the best from her teams. I think we would have cautioned ourselves against that. Even if we lose to them, let us not be disgraced. That is what we should aim at,” Emeteole added.
