Sokoto – Alhaji Abubakar Isa, a Sokoto-based small scale industrialist, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to find a lasting solution to the high cost of cement in the country.
Isa, who is Chairman of Kauna Block Industry Sokoto, in Sokoto on Wednesday, said that there was a need for the Federal Government to evolve sensitive measures towards addressing the problem.
He said that a bag of Sokoto Cement now sold at about N2,800 as against N1,200 previously.
“People are no more building houses because of the high cost of cement,” he said.
Isa explained that the high cost of the item was increasing the level of poverty among Nigerians.
He appealed to President Jonathan to use his presidential powers in addressing the problem, for the sake of the common man.
“We are in dire need of cement at control price, to enable our business to move well.”(NAN)
