Aba (Abia) – War-torn Libyan Ittihad FC players on Sunday lost  0-1 to Enyimba FC of Aba in the CAF Champion League one leg third round  played in Aba, the Abia commercial nerve centre.

The Libyans are out of  the competition without playing at home as specified by CAF rules because of the crisis currently in the country.

The club’s president, Suleiman Belhaj, told NAN shortly after the match that the loss was due to ill-luck.

He said that the war ravaging his country was not responsible for the loss but the players’ poor finishing.

“Our aim was to progress to the money spinning next round of the competition, but the dreams couldn’t clique against Nigerian Enyimba FC of Aba.

“Even when the Nigerian club side could not enact the scintillating skills dreaded in the continent,’’ he said.

Belhaj, however, praised the warm reception from the host shortly after arrival in the commercial city of Aba.

Enyimba’s Victor Barnabas scored the only goal of the match through a spot kick in the 68th minute.

Barnabas was brought down by the goalkeeper of Libyan club side, resulting to the penalty which he converted, enabling the team to book a place in the next round of the competition.
