A suspected member of a robbery gang met his waterloo Tuesday after he was lynched by an angry mob on Broad Street, Lagos Island.
This is just as the identity of the lifeless body of a lady found in a bush around Owutu area of Lagos, weekend, has been identified as that of one Ijeoma, however, detectives investigating the circumstance surrounding the murder, Tuesday, said they were yet to trace the deceased family
The deceased and members of his gang reportedly stormed a Bureau-de Change on 19, Broad Street at about 4 a.m. They were said to have shot the night guard in their attempt to break into the bureau-de-change.
The gun shot reportedly alerted other night guards, who rushed to their colleague’s rescue. Sighting the guards, the robbers took to their heels. But one of them was unlucky as he was caught and lynched before the arrival of policemen.
The wounded guard identified as Ayeni Timothy was rushed to the hospital, where Police sources said he was responding to treatment.
Meanwhile, investigation into the murder of the late Ijeoma revealed that she was last seen in the company of one Chima, at Top World Ventures, Agbede, in Owutu area, where Chima reportedly introduced the deceased as his sister.
However, two days later, the lifeless body of Ijeoma was discovered by one Mrs Njoku, who reportedly went to ease herself in the bush, following which policemen from Owutu division were contacted.
On closer examination of the body, it was revealed that a deep gash was inflicted on the deceased, which suggested that she could have been stabbed to death.
