MAKURDI – The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC declared that it would be unacceptable for any state governor to relent in the payment of the eighteen thousand naira new minimum wage insisting that the wage would not be renegotiated at the state level.

Labour maintained that it would be against the law of the land for any State Governor to foot drag in the payment of the minimum wage because doing so would be going against the spirit of the law just signed by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Addressing newsmen in Makurdi, the Benue State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Simon Anchaver insisted that all state governments in the country have the capacity to pay the new wage without much ado.

According to him, “We also believe that Benue State government would be among the first in the country to implement the new wage.”
