Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye, is the Managing Director/CEO, International Alpha Ltd. It’s a fleet management company that specialises in fleet management of other companies, ranging from banks, oil and gas, telecoms, etc.

In this interview with Moses Nosike of Saturday Vanguard Business, she explains the operation of fleet management in Nigeria and the way her company operates. Excerpts:

As the MD of International Alpha Ltd, how does it operate?

International Alpha is a fleet management company, and as a fleet outsourcing company, it means that we manage the total fleet department. It also means that the company that is outsourcing will not have a transport department again. This means it is our responsibility to provide vehicles, drivers to handle the maintenance of the vehicles of that business outfit. That is exactly what it means.

With the state of Nigerian roads, do you think the environment is conducive for fleet management to gain?
Though the environment might not be all that conducive, yet it is a growing business. It’s coming to limelight.

Though our roads are bad , some of them are being rehabilitated especially here in Lagos where the last regime and the current tenure of Governor Fashola had decided to rehabilitate some of the major roads.

To that extent, we make use of vehicles that are rugged and durable for us to satisfy our clients and deliver quality service. We also ensure that the vehicles we use are maintained appropriately.

Recently, your company signed pact with one of the  bluechip companies  to manage their fleet management, what informed that initiative?

The initiative was basically informed due to the expertise in our operation. We have what we called SMEs, Subject Matters Experts in our organisation, whose core responsibility it is to manage fleet and we delight our customers. We are not the only ones that bidded for the job. Others did but due to our expertise, it was given to us in totality.

What steps have you taken to secure your vehicles?

Our vehicles are insured completely with insurance cover. We insured them under comprehensive policy insurance and also for the occupants so that in case of theft, insurance companies have to come in. We also track our vehicles for recovery peradventure any of them is stolen.

Can you forecast what will become of International Alpha in the next five years?

We are working hard to make sure that in the next five years, the company might have gone to a level of more emulation and also must have gone places in terms of operation and first class service delivery. My dream is that  before that time, our client base must have increased tremendously. We must have gone multi-national.

A lot of people will be happy with the kind of service they will receive from us. I foresee, in the next five years, International Alpha will become a household name in Nigeria.

The rate at which the company is expanding is very astonishing, what is secret?

We discovered that if we must make it and push the company to the next level, we must be hard working. Too, we made sure that the right strategy is put in place to give us the right results desired. Human assets – our employees are our greatest assets.

They put in all it takes to guarantee a work well done. We make our clients happy,  so our clients are our marketers because when they go, they tell others about the type of services offered to them while in International Alpha. That is the secret of our success, expansion and our goal.
