The Chairman of Kwara United, Oladimeji Thompson has reiterated the club’s desire to win the Nigerian Premier League and also return to its Ilorin home ground for their league matches in the second half of the season.

Thompson, a member of the NPL election committee that ushered in the present board, made this known in a press briefing in Ilorin. He stated that the Ilorin Township Stadium will be ready for use as the artificial playing turf is half way completed. “Our first home match in the next half of the season will witness Kwara United return to its home ground. The contractors are working very hard to see that it is ready for use.
We believe with the way work is going on at the stadium, our first home match will be played at home and not Shagamu.
We want to win the league title this season and the WAFU Cup for our sports loving Governor, Bukola Saraki as a parting gift from office. He has given us all the necessary support needed to achieve this feat.
We intend to lay off 12 players and bring in six new ones to make the team 28 players instead of 35.

We are only owing 2-3 weeks match bonuses of the team. We intend to pay this money before the resumption of the second half of the league and also all the 12 players will be paid their money before leaving the club,” Thompson stated.

The Chairman took time to appreciate the Governor of the State, Bukola Saraki, the Commissioner of Sports, the Kwara State Sport Council, Kwara State Football Association, the entire board of the club, the supporters club and the media for their support in the first half of the season.
