Management of Nigerian Breweries Plc has commissioned a brand new clinic for its staff, in its drive to ensure healthy workforce.
At the commissioning in Lagos, the Managing Director, Mr. Nicolaas Vervelde said only healthy staff can perform optimally. He posited that a company can have the best of equipment but without sound personnel it is better than having nothing. “As a socially responsible corporate organisation, Nigerian Breweries places high premium on the well being of her people, which explains the reason we have always had a clinic to cater for, not only the health needs of our management and staff, but also for their families”

Managing Director, Mr. Nicolaas Vervelde and the Manager in Charge of the clinic, Mr. Samson Aigbed,
Vervelde, who pointed out that the new clinic, has been upgraded to international standard stated: “We want our staff to pay more attention to their health, reporting on time any unusual experience, or finding in their body systems. We want employees to be aware of changing disease patterns in our environment ranging from infectious to chronic non communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cancers. The most important message for our clients is that, due to the lack of medical facilities in our environment to deal with these conditions, prevention is our solution of choice. We also want our clients to keep their appointments s and comply with correct usage of their drugs”
He said the new clinic was relocated from the Lagos brewery because access to the old clinic was difficult as a result of its location in the core of the brewery. “Safety laws governing the brewery made it very difficult for majority of employees’ spouses and children to gain access.”
Earlier, the Clinic Manager, Mr. Samson Aigbedo, who described the event as a dream come true, explained that the new clinic is open to all employees of the company, their children, spouses and pensioners and their spouses as well as medial emergency needs on site.
