The Secretary, Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Tunde Popoola, says  the body is set to rebrand sports in the country with its Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP).

Popoola spoke when he closed a three_day OVEP workshop for sports administrators on Saturday in Lagos.

“The NOC is a purpose_driven body; we want to erase the bad image sponsors have about sports.
“Without rebranding, sponsors will find it difficult to aid sports development,” he said.

He said the NOC would do its best to see that OVEP gets to every student and athletes through the support of the state governments.

Popoola urged the participants,  made up of sports directors from the 36 states and Federal Capital territory,  to ensure that OVEP was practiced in their states.

The participants were taught about fair play, respect by athletes for each other during competitions and how the values lead to excellence in sports and life generally.

The NOC scribe also urged athletes to always practice the Olympic values and to be good ambassadors of the country.
