Ndanusa declares open OVEP workshop

PRESIDENT of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC, Engineer Sani Ndanusa would declare open the International Olympic Committee’s “Olympic Value Education Program, OVEP”. today at the Union Bank Sports Club, Surulere by 11.00 a.m.

OVEP as a brain child of the IOC is to teach educational values to all youths and make them better citizens of their countries.The NOC President who is also the President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation would declare open the five-day workshop termed “Train the Trainers for sports officers in the states Ministry of Education who would in turn teach the Physical Education teachers in their various States.

The Workshop would also teach the participants on the five cardinal Olympic Values – Joy of effort, Fair play, Respect for others, Pursuit of excellence and Balance between body, will and mind. The IOC is rolling out this program to show that Olympism is more than just the Olympic Games.

Also, a renowned International Rowing coach, Sefiuden Patwa from Kenya would pay a courtesy call on the NOC President today at the NOC secretariat by 2 p.m. The NOC is also playing a fatherly role by supporting Rowing financially in their course.

Adedoja leads Galadima campaign to Sudan

The Honourable Minister/Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Professor Taoheed Adedoja will lead a high_powered Nigerian delegation to next week’s 33rd Ordinary Congress of the Confederation of African Football, with the sole aim of ensuring the election of Nigerian candidate, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima into the FIFA Executive Com-mittee.

The Nigeria Government endorsed the candidature of Alhaji Galadima, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, following the suspension of Nigerian member, Dr. Amos Adamu by FIFA in November.

The unassuming, highly respected 59-year old Galadima is tipped to retain the coveted seat for Nigeria, and a high-powered delegation led by Professor Adedoja is expected to swing things his way through deft political game-play and extensive diplomatic work.

With Professor Adedoja on the delegation are the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Chief (Dr) Patrick Ekeji and the NFF President Alhaji Aminu Maigari, who is vice chairman of the Ibrahim Galadima Campaign Committe.

There is also General Dominic Oneya, a former NFF Chairman and former Military Administrator of Benue and Kano States, who is chairman of the committee.
