A non-governmental or-ganisation, Conscience Nigeria, CN, has challenged the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, on why he did not reveal the alleged attempt to compromise him until now.

The group, in a statement in Lagos, said the failure of the Court of Appeal President to come out while the issue was still fresh raised so many questions which brings the integrity of the court and the people occupying the office to question.
CN Executive Director, Tosin Adeyanju, has, meanwhile, called on the President of Court of Appeal “to honourably resign from the bench to save the judiciary of what is left of it.”

He said: “It was appalling and an abuse of judicial integrity for the president to wait till now before revealing the alleged attempt to compromise him.

“The sanctity of the judiciary which is very important to us has been greatly compromised by this action.”
he said.

It argued that the claim that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN was tried to influence him over the Sokoto Governorship Appeal case and “allegations against President Goodluck Jonathan of using surrogate to undermine him are reactionary and a face-saving measure.”

The group also expressed displeasure over the spate of alleged leakages of appeal court judgments, especially on political issues, stating this was nothing but an attempt to bring  the judiciary to disrepute.
