The Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry has inaugurated its Procurement Planning Committee (PPC) and Ministerial Tenders Board (MTB) for the 2011 fiscal year.
The PPC consist of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry as Chairman, Directors Policy, Statistic and Standard, Finance and Accounts, Director/Nominee from Dept, Legal Adviser, Nominee of Technical Personnel with expertise in procuring subject matter, and Head of Procurement Unit (Secretary/member). MTB has the Permanent Secretary as Chairman.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Abubakar Mohammad, who inaugurated the Committee, said that it was statutory for every members to ensure transparency, equity, fair play and justice in handling capital projects implementation.
Dr. Mohammad charged the Committees to ensure that the ministry effectively and efficiently implements its 2011 approved budget “ all hands must be on deck,” He urged all departments in the ministry to urgently submit their programmes, proposals and procurement details for the fiscal year in line with the approved amount in the budget to the office of Head of Procurement unit of the Ministry.
Mrs. Adaobi Obioha , Head of Procurement Unit, pointed out that the Procurement Planning Committee (PPC) of the Ministry for 2011 fiscal year will be responsible for approvals in principle of Capital Budget that will enable the procuring departments proceed to the Ministerial Tenders Board (MTB) for the final approval on their projects/programmes and award of contracts on goods, works, consultancy Services and non consultancy Services.
