Dutse— Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Jigawa State, has displayed the list of eight gubernatorial  candidates from eight registered political parties in the state for April elections.

The state INEC Head of Public Affairs and Monitoring, Alhaji Soraju Kore, told  Vanguard in Dutse, Wednesday, that the list displayed were those who showed interest to contest for the state’s  number one seat.

Alhaji Kore said the list and particulars were posted to  enable people of their constituencies to know the candidates that submitted their intention to the commission.

According to the list,  All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, picked Alhaji Ibrahim Hadejia as its gubernatorial candidate; Alhaji Muhammad Badaru will run on the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, has Alhaji Farouq Aliyu; Alhaji Musa Ibrahim for Africa Democratic Congress, ADC; Alhaji Ahmad Yaro, All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.

Others include: Abdulkadir Abdulkarim as Mega Progressive Peoples Party, MPPP’s flag bearer; Alhaji Danlami Haruna, for National Reformation Party, NRP, and Alhaji Sule Lamido will be the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s flag bearer.

Similarly, Vanguard observed that all the candidates who contested for primaries in different political parties in Jigawa state made the INEC official lists, but a political critics, Alhaji Sani Yau Babura says  the commission has no right to alter with the political parties lists, except it has constitutional backing.

The critics, Alhaji Sani Yau Babura who spoke with Vanguard on phone observed that hence INEC says under the new electoral law, it has the power to ensure that only those who genuinely win their primary’s are allowed to contest, they cannot be questioned.

Alhaji Babura noted that there most of the names that makes the new INEC lists of candidates are names of contested who have been alleging that their mandates where stolen by the leadership of their parties.
