We have prima facie case against Sen Folarin – Police

ABUJA — Police authorities yesterday, said they have uncovered a convincing prima-facie nexus linking the embattled Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, with the murder of transport union helmsman, Alhaji Abdul Lateef Salako, aka Eleweomo.

The police via a press statement dated January 4 and made available to Vanguard yesterday, said the outcome of its preliminary investigations into what transpired at the congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Oyo State chapter on December 30, disclosed that the lawmaker had enough case to answer.

According to the statement, “in the course of investigations, there was prima facie case against the suspects including Senator Folarin who were remanded in prison custody by Magistrate Court 1, Iyaganku until 14th of January, 2011.”

The statement recalled that “Alhaji Salako, a.k.a. Eleweomo was brutally murdered on 30th December, 2010, during a PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) primary congress at IDC Primary School, Olunloyo village, Ona-Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.

“After the murder incident of Eleweomo, the IGP (Inspector-General of Police)  directed the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State to fish out the perpetrators of this dastardly act and consequent upon this directive, four suspects among who was Senator Folarin were arrested and charged accordingly,” the statement said.
