AKURE—A Labour Party House of Representatives aspirant, Chief Olufemi Adekanmbi who was attacked weekend by hoodlums  has urged police and the state government to probe the attack.

His convoy was attacked by some hoodlums in Ifon, Ose Local government area of Ondo State.

The hoodlums who were armed with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, axes and bottles fired gunshots to scare members of the campaign team.

The LP stalwart is seeking to represent the people of Owo/Ose in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

His attack is coming few days after he officially declare his intention to contest next years election.

A statement issued by the Director General of the Olufemi Adekanmbi campaign organisation, Mr. Gbolahan Aderibigbe accused another LP aspirant in the area as the brain behind the attack on his boss.

Aderibigbe condemned the attack and said it was barbaric and uncalled for, asking the police and the state government to probe further into the matter to forestall future occurrence.

‘We can identify the boys who attacked us; all we want the police to do is not to sweep the case under the carpet. We want decisive action to be taken so that the culprits will be brought to book.

‘We want the state government to urgently wade into the matter and call those behind the attack to order. Our campaign team doesn’t believe in violence, politics should not be seen as a do-or die matter.

“The police should investigate the matter and come out with the fact, the police should not act as a biased umpire in this matter”.
