The Centre for Management Development (CMD) is to train 30,000 Nigerians between 2011 and 2013 to help in actualising the vision 20:2020. Dr Kabir Usman, the Director General of the centre, said  in Abuja at a three-day retreat organised for senior staff of CMD.
The theme of the workshop was “The Effect of Work Life Balance on Employee productivity.’’

Usman said the centre’s work plan to train 30,000 Nigerians was aimed at supporting the implementation of the country’s Vision 20:2020. According to him, the purpose of the retreat is to review the 2010 programmes of the centre and work out a three-year action plan to reposition the centre. He added that the workshop would also help in making Nigeria one of the 20 top economies by 2020.

The CMD boss said the centre trained more than 9,000 civil servants working with states and federal governments, including 200 police officers in 2010. Usman said the centre was planning to train stakeholders in the health and education sector in 2011, saying policy makers, lawmakers and decision makers would be trained in line with the Vision 20:2020.

According to him, the centre will ensure that every staff undergoes relevant training in order to help in achieving its mandate.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that CMD is a resource institution established by the federal government with the responsibility of stimulating, promoting and coordinating management aspect of businesses.

CMD undertakes the registration and accreditation exercise of all management training institutions in the country with the aim of promoting high standards of practice in the profession. The centre also runs yearly Management Information System Programmes.
