BENIN CITY – THE Concerned Edo Youths for Good Governance (CEYGG), has described as “mere sychophancy”, the statement by some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oredo Local Government Area of the state, endorsing governor Godwin Obaseki for a second term.

Enogie of Ewu, His Royal Highness, Barr. Razaq Ojiefo; Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki; Chairman, Esan Central Local Government Area, Hon. Edokpa Waziri; Chairman, Edo State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), Barr. Anselm Ojezua; Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Dame Omoua Oni-Okpaku, during the official flag-off of remediation work by the governor, at Ewu erosion site, in Ewu, Esan Central LGA of the state.

The group in a statement signed by its Director of Publicity, Dr Calistus Osamoyi, admonished Obaseki to be wary of those endorsing him for a second term when he is barely three years in office, asserting that those people will ” still endorse another candidate who give them more money as we approach 2020″.

According to the statement, ” it is nauseating to read people saying there is no vacancy in Osadebey Avenue because they want to make Obaseki happy. We are calling on these party leaders to allow Edo people pick their governor come 2020 and not leaders who have already compromised and trying to justify their pay.

“We have said it on several occassions that people should stop distracting Obaseki with a second term when he is yet to commence job at the Gelegele Sea Port, Benin industrial park projects and the 200,000 jobs he promised Edo people.

“Besides, APC is known for conducting primaries even in states where they have sitting governors and that is why we see those shouting that there is no vacancy in Osadebey Avenue as jokers. Obaseki must merit a second term and it will not come through these sychophants who are professionals in creating crisis so they can feast on the governor” it stated.
