Goje tasks public auditors on transparency

GOMBE — Public auditors at all levels of government in the country have been urged to strictly adhere to the ethics of the profession as that would be the only way to show accountability and transparency.

Governor Mohammed Danjuma Goje of Gombe State gave the charge while declaring open a two-day conference of the National Executive Committee of the National Conference of the Association of Public Service Auditors of Nigeria, ASPAN, in Gombe, Gombe State.

Represented by his Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Mohammad Hassan, the governor said that his administration has ensured transparency and accountability of funds in various projects so far executed in the state.

He said all public records are always made available to the auditors in the state when necessary.
Captioned “Strengthening and Repositioning Audit Institutions in Nigeria for Effective Performance”, the President of the Association, Mr. Samson Idoko, in his address said that this year’s conference was geared towards interacting with members with a view to identifying their challenges and enhancing their performance in the job.

The Auditor-General of the Federation who was represented by the Kogi State Auditor-General said that members must work to promote the integrity of the profession.

Contributing, the Gombe State Chapter Chairman of the Association expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Alhaji Mohammad Danjuma Goje, for sponsoring the meeting of the auditors which held at the new Banquet Hall, Government House, Gombe.
