MoneyGram donate books to LASU

As part of its activities to mark Nigeria’s 50th  independence  anniversary, MoneyGram International  has announced the donation of management books to the Lagos State University Library.

Funmi Omitowoju, Regional Director, Anglophone West Africa, disclosed at the presentation ceremony in Lagos where according to her the initiative by MoneyGram is a continuation of activities that are slated to celebrate the country’s golden jubilee anniversary which started with the promise  of  providing scholarship to ten indigent brilliant female students in six different universities in the country.

These management books according to her; was a gesture from the MoneyGram International German office as part of its contribution to the Nigeria’s office celebration of the Golden jubilee, she further said that Moneygram Lagos office considered the gesture as worthwhile and decided to include additional books to help our brothers and sisters in Lasu. She buttressed her point saying the exercise is a continuing project and first of many.

Omitowoju further stated that MoneyGram International has an ethos of positively impacting the communities in which it operates and continuously seeks opportunities to give back meaningfully to the good people in many countries its operates.

It will be recalled that MoneyGram plans to give out scholarship to ten Brilliant indigent female students across the nation’s six universities and is based on continuous excellent performance of the students that will emerge as beneficiaries of the scholarship that will last for a period of between four years and six years based on the course of the students.

The presentation of the scholarships will hold in the same way that the international Money transfer company presented the books to the Lagos State University Library.

The representative of the Vice Chancellor of the university (Mrs. A.S Bello) showed her unreserved gratitude and further stated that the gesture of MoneyGram came at a time that can best be described as the right and appropriate time as the institution is in need of current and modern books that will expose the student to modern knowledge.

Whilst thanking and commending MoneyGram for choosing LASU library for the donation, she called on other multinationals to emulate the gesture and contribute to the development of one of the most important capital that can rapidly provide the development that is needed as a nation.
