UGHELLI—Former militants, undergoing skill acquisition training in the Naval base in Sapele, Delta State, yesterday, vowed to go back to the creeks, should the Federal Government fail to meet their needs under the post Amnesty Programme.
The former militants, in a statement by their national Chairman, Barisi Zor, said most of the agreements reached between the Amnesty Committee and the former militants had been breached by the authorities, adding that the celebrated training programme earmarked for them has run into serious crisis.
They alleged that the resource person engaged to train them was either ill-equipped or was cutting corners, adding that the situation has made them to stay idle in the past three months in the training camp.
They called on the Federal Government to extend the programme to two years to enable them acquire the needed skills that would make them employable to earn a decent living outside carrying of arms.
They also asked members of the amnesty committee to visit the 24 training centers across the country to see things for themselves.
The former militants in the statement, said coordinators of the centers were doing things contrary to the agreement reached between their leaders and the amnesty committee.
