SSS nabs operator of illegal satellite campus

By John Ighodaro
CALABAR—A forty year old man, Mr. Babatunde Olawole Cole, has been apprehended by men of the Cross River State Security Services, SSS, for operating an illegal satellite campus for the University of Calabar.

The illegal institution named Cole Education consult often registered unsuspecting students for PGD Programme at N98,000.00 and Masters Programme at N245,000.00 every session.

On graduation, he awarded the students Post Graduate certificates in the name of the University of Calabar.

According to the State Director of the State Security Service, Mrs. Mary Otubo, the man’s offence is a case of illegal action against the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Meanwhile the unrepentant Babatunde Olawole Cole said he could not understand why the SSS was against what he was doing.

He couldn’t understand the illegality of his action.

He argued that graduands often came to Calabar for graduation and that lecturers with PDG and Masters come in from other universities to lecture in his institution.
Incidentally, Babatunde Olawole Cole holds an HND from Ibadan Polytechnic, but holds a Masters from his own institution.

At last count Cole had awarded 50 PDGs and 100 Masters degrees.
Describing Cole’s action as a nefarious trade of deceit, the Deputy Vice_Chancellor of the University of Calabar, (Admin) Prof. Okon Ekpa said Cole deserves to be in darkness considering the deceit he had perpetuated in the lives of many people.
