ABUJA—An Abuja-based Motor Company, Ineh Mic Ltd, narrowly escaped falling prey to the antics of a con-man, one Mr. Jidedia Ezenwa, for the second time in six months as he attempted to buy six brand new Prado Jeeps worth about N40million with a dud cheque.

The suspect had in April successfully conned and taken delivery of 15 brand new cars worth over N80million from three different motor companies, including Ineh Mic, at Abuja Motor Fair after presenting a dud cheque to the companies.

Parading the recovered vehicles at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Supol Jimoh Moshood, said Ezenwa, who was standing trial for about three cases of fraud and was released on bail, had gone to the company with the pretext of buying six Prado jeeps.

He was said to have effected payment through a bank where he had contact and the vehicles were released to him after the company received confirmation from the bank of their account having been credited to the tone of N7million as advance payment.

Trouble, however, started when the company’s headquarters in Lagos discovered that the money which he was supposed to have paid did not reflect in their account, notwithstanding the SMS alert stating otherwise.
