Nwodo vs Chime: I leave judgment to God, says Chime

By Tony Edike
ENUGU–GOVERNOR Sullivan Chime of Enugu State said, today, that he would leave  the plots by the Nwodos  to dislodge him from office to the judgment of God.

Chime spoke on his conflict with members of the Nwodo family when he received  traditional rulers from Nwodo’s Ukehe community who paid him a solidarity visit in Enugu.

The royal fathers had in their speech disowned the roles of the national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo in the alleged plot to flush out the Chime administration.

The governor told the monarchs  that the PDP in Enugu State had peace before Nwodo was readmitted and made the chairman of the party, adding that before then, they were complaining that they were chased out of the party only to come back to plot how to chase out their benefactors .

Hear him;  “As for our brothers (Nwodos), we’ve left them to God’s judgment . We had peace before they came back and we’ll continue to have peace. The PDP in Enugu State belongs to all of us. We allow every body to participate, to air  his or her views.

“I thank you immensely for this show of solidarity and would want to also reassure you that I’m at home with Ukehe people and the larger people of Enugu North senatorial district.”

Chime  also praised the Ukehe royal fathers for having a good son in the person of the speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon Eugene Odoh.

“I want to put on record that we’ve worked quite harmoniously with speaker and the institution he represents. We started with him and God willing, we will continue with him.”

The royal fathers who spoke through Igwe Francis Oti of Ezi Ukehe had earlier told the governor that they have been hearing of the unfortunate actions by “some of our people, those you made chairman of the Enugu Centenary Committee and aided to become national chairman of PDP.”

They told the governor that it was not in the character of Ukehe people to betray their benefactors.

“We don’t betray friendship, They were not sent by our people. They are just demonstrating how insatiable people can be,” the royal fathers said.

Among the traditional rulers on the visit were  Igwe of Agu Ukehe, Emma Arua, Igwe of Ojime Ukehe, Mike C. Odo, Igwe of Umuofiagu Ukehe, Petr Aninweze, Igwe of Amugu Ukehe, Festus Ozoemenam and Amokofia Ukehe, Okechi Ajima Nwodo.
