ONITSHA—About 70 students across Anambra State have benefitted from the scholarship scheme instituted by an Onitsha-based industrialist and chairmanship aspirant on the platform of  the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Lady Ann Chukwuneke.

The youth coordinator for Lady Chukwuneke campaign organization in Onitsha south local government, Mr Obidigwe Chinedu, dropped the hint in Onitsha while addressing reporters on the activities of the organization.

He also said about 40 youths were last weekend empowered with 40 sewing machines as part of Lady Chukwuneke’s poverty alleviation scheme, while 17 commercial motorcycle riders, who were given motorcycles by Governor Peter Obi, were issued licenses by the aspirant.

Chinedu said the youths decided to throw their weight behind  Chukwuneke because of her concern for not only the empowerment of the youths but also welfare of the needy, especially  widows, orphans and indigent people in the society.

“ We have chosen and endorsed Lady Ann Chukwuneke as the choice for the  office of chairmanship of  Onitsha south local government after a careful examination of all the aspirants’ pedigree seeking to occupy the exalted position,” he said.

According to him, the philanthropist was endorsed by a coalition comprising, Onitsha south LGA APGA youth, Anambra north senatorial zone APGA, Anambra north Youth vanguard, Onitsha south chapter, Integrated volunteer youth movement, onitsha south, national association of Nigeria students, national association of female students and Anambra north yoth movement for good governance.
