ASABA—Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, has said with the official unveiling of Delta State laws the state had formally severed itself from the laws of defunct Bendel State.

Dr. Uduaghan made the assertion while speaking at the official presentation of Delta State Laws in Asaba, Delta State capital.

He noted that it was necessary for the state to have its own laws after 19 years of its creation from the defunct Bendel State.

The governor disclosed that no society could survive without rules and regulations guiding its activities.

Dr. Uduaghan said most investors invest huge capital in Israel today because of its protective policies and rules for investors.

He challenged lawyers and judges to fashion out protective laws for investors in the country so as to provide more employment opportunities for the citizenry.

The governor commended the state Ministry of Justice for its efforts in making the public presentation of Delta State laws possible.

The State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Victor Otomiewo, while speaking on the occasion, said as the society was very dynamic, the law regulating it ought to be regularly reflective of the dynamism and dynamics of contemporary times.

According to him, “it is from such stand point that we can best appreciate the importance of this event.”

It is a bold testimony of, and a highpoint in the fulfillment of the Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s administration’s three point agenda of peace and security, human capital and infrastructural development of Delta State.”

He revealed that the project was initiated by the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, now Deputy Governor of Delta State, Prof. Amos Utuamah (SAN) under the watchful eyes of the former Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori.

Chief Otomiewo stressed that the unflinching commitment, enthusiasm, determination and purposefulness with which the present administration continued with the project speaks volumes of the need for continuity in government.
