The Chief Anthony Enahoro-led Pro-National Conference Organization, PRONACO and Secretary of the Citizens Popular Party, CPP, Chief Chukwuma Eke yesterday applauded the victory of Dr Kayode Fayemi at the court of appeal over the Ekiti State 2007 gubernatorial election.

In a statement by Mr. Wale Okunniyi, PRONACO hailed the resilience of Fayemi and the courage of the judiciary in bringing the matter to a logical conclusion.

“We therefore wish to charge Dr Fayemi to urgently channel this historic victory and his wealth of experience in the movement for change into improving the neglected well-being of the Ekiti people as well as rallying patriotic democrats to present a formidable front at the 2011 elections for a broader change in Nigeria”

In like manner, Eke said the verdict was victory for the democracy and the opposition as the ACN now has three states. ‘I commend Fayemi for his victory. It is victory for the democracy and the progressives.’
Reacting to the judgment, the ACN described it as a victory for the rule of law and a great day for the judiciary.

Similarly, ACN, Lagos Chapter, said that the judiciary had, by the judgment, served a final notice to electoral thieves and vote robbers that the game is getting over and called for stiff sanctions against all those that perpetrated the electoral fraud in Ekiti State that saw an impostor in Segun Oni wield an illegitimate mandate for nearly four years.

In a swift reaction to the judgement, National Publicity Secretary of the party and his Lagos State counterpart Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Mr. Joe Igbokwe, respectively in a separate statements, said that the victory was a salute to the tenacity of purpose by the ACN governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as well the leaders and members of the party.

‘’This victory has simply shown that, with an independent and unbiased judiciary, a man can get justice if he is courageous enough to pursue his case in the face of all odds.’
