National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested a 2006 graduate of Enugu State University of Science and Technology at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, for attempting to smuggle 1.050kg of cocaine.

The suspect, Adolphus Nnamdi Agu, who is an Agricultural Engineering graduate, was nabbed with the drug he ingested in 79 wraps.

The agency also arrested 20 other suspects at the same airport for drug trafficking, including a female, with an overall haul of 25.520kg of narcotics, comprising 18.100kg of cocaine, 5kg of cannabis, 2.015kg of heroine and 1.455kg of methamphetamine.

Agu, who left the country for Brazil about a year ago, said he lost his job and needed to take care of his family.

He said: “I left Nigeria to Brazil last year. After working as a farmer, I lost my job. I became jobless and my wife is pregnant.

“My intention was to secure an accommodation and prepare for my new born baby because, as we speak I have no house.”
