The indicators for measuring the market performance, the market capitalisation and the All share index appreciated last week by 3.13 per cent each.
In particular, the capitalistion rose by N176.87 billion to close at N5.825 trillion from N5.648 trillion at which it opened penultimate week, while the index rose by 721.81 bases points to close at 23,772.40 points from 23,050.59 points.
Guinness Nigeria Plc led 46 other stocks on the gainers’ table with a gain of N12.07 to close at N182.07 per share, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N3.75 to close at N60.85 per share, Unilever Nigeria Plc garnered N3.03 to close at N27.53 per share.
Other share price gainers’ include: Ashaka Cement Plc N2.49, Nigerian Breweries Plc N1.92, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc N1.50, Access Bank Plc N1.22, Cadbury Nigeria Plc N0.90, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc N0.89, Okomu Oil Palm Plc N0.86, among others.
African Petroleum Plc led 30 other stocks on the losers’ table, dropping by N2.59 to close at N24.07 per share, UAC of Nigeria Plc followed with a loss of N2.38 to close at N37.94 per share and Conoil Plc dipped by N1.60 to close at N39.35 per share.
Other share price losers include: International Breweries Plc N0.89, UACN Property Development Company Plc N0.80, Benue Cement Company Plc N0.50, Skye Bank Plc N0.50,
Avon Crowncaps and Containers Nigeria Plc N0.36, Presco Plc N0.32, Eterna Oil and Gas Plc N0.29, among others.
NSE 30 gained by 3.13 per cent, NSE Insurance outstripped by 9.65 per cent, NSE Banking followed with 5.16 per cent. NSE food and Beverages appreciated by 2.41 per cent and NSE Oil and Gas dropped by 1.50 per cent.
Equities trading plunge 80.48 per cent, as turnover of 2.05 billion shares valued at N18 billion was recorded in 28,785 deals, in contrast to last week’s turnover of 1.1 billion shares valued at N10.5 billion in 21,572 deals.
The Banking sub-sector was the most active in the sub-sector accounting for 56.10 per cent of the market turnover with 1.15 billion shares valued at N9.45billion in 15,293 deal. Diamond Bank Plc recorded the most patronage in the sub-sector trading 177.14 million shares valued at N1.25 billion in 492 deals, Access Bank Plc followed with the exchange of 155.84 million shares valued at N1.46 billion in 1,205 deals and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc recorded 128.21 million shares valued at N1.96 billion in 2,149 deals.
The Insurance sub-sector, followed on the sectorial analysis accounting for 18.17 per cent of the market turnover with 372.43 million shares valued at N227.11 million in 971 deals. Goldlink Insurance Plc was the sought after in the sub-sector trading 86.38 million shares valued at N43.19 million in 20 deals, Staco Insurance Plc, followed with the exchange of 72.21 million shares valued at N36.10 million in 15 deals, Mutual Benefit Assurance Plc recorded 48.73 million shares valued at N24.36 million in 24 deals.
