Operatives of Lagos State Task Force have arrested at least 210 miscreants and impounded 125 motorcycles, popularly called okada, around Iludun Town, New Oko-Oba area of Agege, Lagos State.

Also, 98 illegal shanties built on drainage and road set-backs were demolished by the team following complaints by different communities around the area.

Chairman of the agency, Chief Superintendent Olayinka Egbeyemi, who led the enforcement team, disclosed that the 210 arrested miscreants were those recently dislodged by the agency along railway behind Abattoir Lairage, Agege.

According to him, areas where those dislodged miscreants and street urchins carried out their activities and erected illegal shanties included Pipeline Way, Agric Road, Olaofe Road and Mofoladayo Drive.

Egbeyemi disclosed further that the miscreants and street urchins had been attacking communities day and night, robbing them of their valuables such as phones, wallets and jewelleries.

He said: “It was an eyesore as these dislodged miscreants and street urchins were freely smoking and selling Indian hemp around residential premises where you have under-age schoolgirls and boys.”

The Chairman stressed that 98 demolished illegal shanties and shops built with containers within the area and adjoining streets aside being on the landscape and harbouring criminals, constituted health hazards to humans, environment and safety in and around the area.

The arrested miscreants and street urchins were immediately charged to court on the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal.
