Why CUPP won’t work, by Owie

By Alemma Aliu

BENIN—FORMER Chief Whip of the Senate and now National Leader of Action Democratic Party, ADP, Senator Roland Owie, has said that the recent coalition of about 30 political parties with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, known as Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, to rout the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was a coalition of deceit that would not work.

Speaking in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, where he received members of the Nigeria Intervention Movement into ADP and unveiling of the party’s office in the area, made possible by a senatorial aspirant, Erasmus Ikhide, Owie said the PDP had failed Nigeria and any coalition with it would also fail.

Owie, continuing, said: “We refused to be in the coalition because the moment you move into a lepers colony, you become a leper.”
