A real estate developer and the Osun State University have launched a N300 million hostel facility developed under a under the Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) arrangement at the main campus of the institution in Osogbo, the state capital.
At the inauguration ceremony, Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, commended the developer, Amorit International Limited, for the initiative, noting such feats are needed to fast-track development of infrastructure in the state. He seized the opportunity to court private investors to partner with the state government on other areas of infrastructure development.
Oyinlola also applauded the quality of the job done, which is the first of its kind in the three-year old institution. “I use this opportunity to call on others like Amorit to come and partner with the university to develop infrastructure and move the university forward,” he said.
The Provost, College of Health Sciences of the university, Prof. Taiwo Adewole, said the project was a testimony of what was derivable from public_private partnership, noting that the college was particularly excited because the hostel represented the fulfilment of one of the conditions for the accreditation of the medical programme by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
“We ask that you join us in prayers that this joint partnership will wax stronger, produce more fruits and serve as an encouragement for others, who are willing to partner with the university to move education forward in this state for all Nigerians and beyond,” he said.
