It is natural to nurse a dream career in any given field but failure to pursue it with passion, patience and resilience, spells doom. Such is not the case with Nigerian afro-pop music singer, Idris Abdulsamad Aregbesola, aka SMD, a  budding musician.

Abdulsamad who began nursing the dream of becoming a music star  since his childhood lost track as he wasted his time focusing on football instead of chasing his dream career, music. He finally woke up to reality, two years ago, with the help of his nephew who is a music producer in Osun State.

With two club banging singles, ‘Give me love’ and ‘Solace’ to his credit, the Kwara State-born musical greenhorn is poised to stamp his foot on the Nigerian music scene with his addiction to making good music.

In a chat, SMD, as he is fondly called, told Potpourri that music-making is an addiction for him.

“I choose music because it’s something I’m addicted to. Not doing music is like not eating or sleeping and that is not possible; it’s something I’m just used to”, he said.

Speaking further, he explained how heartbreak inspired his second single, titled ‘Solace’.

“My ex-girlfriend inspired my single ‘Solace’. I was in love and got sidelined so I had to pour out my emotions in a song. So you can rightly say heartbreak inspired the single.”

He added that his music is targeted at fostering national unity and also take Nigerian music to a larger audience.

“I intend to achieve a lot with my music, like bringing people together, promoting Nigeria in the outside world and making the country proud”, he said.
