Music streaming platform Airaplay is exploring the integration of New Skool Ogene (NSO) as a dedicated category within its ecosystem, as the cultural sound system expands its approach to digital discovery.
The development follows ongoing engagement between Airaplay and NSO around how the system could be represented beyond individual artist releases on digital platforms.
At the centre of the proposed structure are NSO’s four Sound Divisions, Pulse Culture, Rhythm Forge, Soul Motion and Fierce Fusion created to organise the different musical expressions that exist within the wider New Skool Ogene framework.
Rather than functioning solely as a genre label, the proposed category would provide a discovery point through which listeners can encounter the sound, its divisions and the creatives that may become part of the system as it develops.
Airaplay is among the early digital platforms exploring the structure with NSO, extending a relationship that has previously included the platform’s support for releases connected to Dan RicHeE, the founder and first artist introducing the system.
The discussions mark another stage in NSO’s development from a cultural sound framework into a structure capable of being represented and discovered within digital music ecosystems.
