ASABA — The FOOG Women Support Group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged to mobilise support for the re-election of both leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group also assured the Delta State leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of its readiness to work with the party’s structures across the state.
The Director-General of FOOG, Chief (Mrs) Esther Ori Okotie-Eboh, Iye of Warri Kingdom, gave the assurance on Wednesday when she led members of the group on a courtesy visit to the Delta State APC Working Committee at the party secretariat in Asaba.
Okotie-Eboh said the group had more than 1,000 members and had remained committed to empowerment initiatives for women and youths.
She said the group would continue to mobilise its members and reach out to more people in support of the APC.
“We have over 1,000 members, and you can call on us anytime you need us. We can mobilise our members within a short notice whenever the party requires our support,” she said.
According to her, FOOG had empowered more than 1,000 people through its leader and patron, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, whom she described as supportive of the group’s activities.
She also acknowledged the contributions of former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju, and Hon. (Mrs.) Irene Imila, a member of the group, towards its activities and growth.
Okotie-Eboh said the visit was aimed at informing the APC leadership of the group’s preparedness to support Tinubu and Oborevwori, as well as seeking guidance and prayers from the party leadership as it carried out its activities.
During the visit, the group presented 10 coolers, 10 gas cookers, 10 cooking pots, 10 frying pans and 100 pieces of wrappers to the party.
Receiving the delegation, the APC Delta State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, commended FOOG for its activities and described it as “a very veritable, dynamic, agile and politically structured group.”
Arenyeka said support groups were important to political mobilisation and urged FOOG to expand its activities across the 25 local government areas of the state.
“Support groups are instruments of driving the wheel of the party,” he said.
He also advised the group to promote its activities peacefully and ensure that its programmes reflected the principles of the APC, assuring members of the party’s support.
“As you are working, you are also working for us. As you are doing your own, you are doing our own,” Arenyeka said.
