The Founder of Oyemike Political Network (OPN) and NDC stakeholder, Hon. Valentine Nneoma Oyemike, has expressed confidence in the capacity of the party’s Delta State Governorship Candidate, Dcn. Chris Iyovwaye, describing him as a candidate whose record of enterprise, service and leadership deserves the confidence of Deltans.

Oyemike stated this after accompanying Dcn. Iyovwaye, alongside NDC leader and Delta Central Senatorial District candidate, His Excellency Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and the party’s candidate for Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Christopher Ominimini Obiuwevbi, on a two-day consultative visit to Delta Central, including Ewu in Ughelli South Local Government Area.

According to Oyemike, the engagement provided him with an opportunity to listen more closely to the governorship candidate and gain a deeper appreciation of his knowledge, experience and understanding of the issues confronting Delta State.

He said the enthusiasm displayed by party leaders, stakeholders and members during the consultation was a clear indication that the people are increasingly interested in leadership that listens, engages communities and offers practical solutions to their challenges.

Oyemike noted that one of the qualities that distinguishes Iyovwaye is his extensive experience outside government, particularly his success in building the Wellmann Group of Companies from a zero-capital venture into a major enterprise operating in specialized logistics, engineering and heavy transportation.

He stressed that such experience is relevant to the challenges confronting Delta, particularly the need to attract investment, stimulate industries, create employment and transform the state’s abundant natural resources into sustainable economic opportunities.

“This is a man who has built before asking to govern. His experience has exposed him to the realities of investment, enterprise, job creation, logistics and economic development. These are valuable experiences Delta can put to work,” Oyemike said.

The OPN Founder further highlighted Iyovwaye’s understanding of the economic potential of the Niger Delta, particularly through his advocacy for the productive utilisation of the region’s vast resources.

Oyemike argued that Delta State requires a leadership approach capable of moving the state from dependence on its natural resources to a more productive economy where those resources generate industries, investments, jobs and opportunities for its citizens.

He said the consultative engagement also reinforced the importance of taking politics directly to the people and allowing communities to express their concerns, expectations and aspirations.

“The people are not asking for complicated things. They want leadership that listens, keeps faith with its commitments, creates opportunities and ensures that development is felt beyond major cities and political centres,” he added.

Oyemike therefore urged Deltans to pay close attention to the credentials, experience, ideas and track records of those seeking to lead the state, rather than making decisions based solely on political sentiments.

He maintained that the ongoing consultations would provide the NDC leadership and its candidates with a better understanding of the expectations of communities across Delta State.

“Trust in leadership should be earned. When a candidate comes before the people with experience in building enterprises, creating opportunities and serving communities, his ideas deserve to be seriously examined.”

Oyemike expressed optimism that the growing engagement across communities would strengthen the NDC’s message of unity, good governance, economic opportunity and inclusive development.

He said the consultations would continue as the party takes its message to more communities across Delta State, adding that the ultimate objective is to build a Delta where government works for every citizen.
