Hundreds of residents of Balanga and Dukku Local Government Areas of Gombe State have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by the Rotary Club of Gombe in partnership with the Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna Foundation.
The outreach was aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for underserved rural communities through free medical consultations, diagnostic screenings and the distribution of essential prescription drugs.
According to the Foundation, the initiative was designed to reduce the financial and geographical barriers that often prevent rural residents from accessing timely medical care.
Beneficiaries included elderly persons, women, children and other vulnerable members of the communities, who received medical attention and medications at no cost.
The organisers said the programme also focused on addressing common health challenges in rural areas while strengthening maternal and child healthcare through preventive and curative services.
Speaking on the initiative, a representative of the Foundation, Umar Alkali Jibril, said the outreach forms part of its commitment to improving healthcare delivery and the well-being of rural communities across Gombe State.
The medical team, led by grassroots mobiliser and politician, Alhaji Umaru Muazu, visited Dukku and Nyuwar communities, where healthcare professionals attended to residents and dispensed prescribed medications.
Addressing beneficiaries, Muazu reaffirmed the commitment of Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, popularly known as Sardauna, to supporting programmes that improve access to affordable and quality healthcare.
He assured residents that similar interventions would continue to complement existing healthcare services and improve the welfare of rural communities.
The organisers said the collaboration between the Rotary Club of Gombe and the Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna Foundation reflects the growing contribution of philanthropic organisations to expanding healthcare access and bridging medical service gaps in underserved communities.
