ABUJA: Political stakeholders from Ebonyi state under the aegis of Royal Front of Ezza Ezekuna have warned that the state cannot survive another four years of governance under the All Progressives Congress APC, alleging that the level of decay and misgovernance in the state has reached an alarming height.
The stakeholders gave the warning in a communique released Tuesday in Abuja and signed by Ambassador Paschal Oluchukwu, convener of an expanded meeting of Ezza elite said to have held in Sunday in Enugu.
Oluchukwu said the stakeholders resolved to throw their weights behind the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the 2027 governorship election in Ebonyi State, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, insisting that he possessed all the credible qualities for a transformative governance that could impact real lives across every sector and section of the State.
According to the communique, the group’s inaugural meeting brought together prominent sons and daughters of Ezza Ezekuna who rallied the people to be wise in their choice by supporting a candidate who would ensure the emergence of an their son as governor in 2031.
“That candidate is no other than Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii of the People’s Democratic Party because governance is not trial by error. You must have been tested with individual accomplishments before being entrusted with a public office. Across the length and breadth of Ebonyi State, he has built several houses for widows he does not even know, offered scholarship opportunities to many and empowered thousands of youths to start up businesses, among many others,” Oluchukwu disclosed.
A former member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and stakeholder of the PDP, Hon. Ikechukwu Nwobo, on his part said the people of Ebonyi should no longer be concerned about zoning arrangements that had never truly existed, but should instead channel their efforts into rescuing the State from bad governance under the current administration.
“Ebonyi people cannot survive another wasted four years if things continue the way they currently are in the State,” he cautioned.
Also speaking, an elder statesman and chieftain of the PDP, Chief Christopher Ngwuta, urged the people of Ezza Ezekuna never to be deceived by the promises of certain individuals that they would be given power in 2031.
He said; “They cannot make that promise public because they don’t want our people to hold them to account. They know that they are deceiving our people, but we have to be wise and support Anyichuks because only him has the capacity to give an Ezza man power”.
Ngwuta said the people of the Ezza nation could no longer afford to support blindly, noting that this had made their opportunity to govern Ebonyi elude them since the creation of the state despite having the largest population in the state.
