The Imole Campaign Council has expressed confidence that voters in Osun State will reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15 governorship election and return Governor Ademola Adeleke for another term.

The campaign council, which is backing Adeleke, the Accord Party governorship candidate, said residents had embraced the governor’s performance in office and would reward him with re-election.

The council made the assertion in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, on Friday, while reacting to comments by the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who said his years in public service had prepared him to govern the state.

Rejecting Oyebamiji’s claim, the council alleged that Osun’s financial position worsened during his tenure as commissioner for finance under the previous administration.

According to the statement, the state’s domestic debt rose to N148 billion, while external debt increased to $91 million during the APC administration. It claimed that the Adeleke administration had reduced the domestic debt to N83 billion and external debt to $75 million.

The campaign council further alleged that the previous government left unpaid obligations totalling N75.8 billion, covering salaries, pensions and insurance commitments. It said the Adeleke administration had cleared the backlog, including outstanding hazard allowances owed to health workers.

“According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the food inflation in Osun as of 2022 under Oyetola and Oyebamiji was 22.24% but cut down to 11.9% as of 2025 under Adeleke” the statement partly reads.

The statement added that the Adeleke administration had improved transparency in the state’s finances, pointing to a 100 per cent fiscal transparency score in BudgIT’s third-quarter 2025 report.

The council also accused the immediate past APC administration of failing to deliver on promises relating to workers’ welfare, pensions, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture and social services.

It maintained that the APC lost the 2022 governorship election because of its record in office and predicted that voters would once again reject the party at the polls.

“The good people of Osun State cannot be deceived by the theatrical displays and untrue claims by Oyebamiji. Having witnessed the outstanding performance of Governor Ademola Adeleke, they will vote to re-elect him on August 15, 2026,” the statement said.
