Uzo-uwani Council Chairman, Barr. Chijioke Joseph Ezugwu, has convened a high-level strategic meeting with communities in Ogboli Zone, key stakeholders, traditional rulers, security agencies to address the recent security challenges in the zone and chart a path towards lasting security in the zone.

The meeting, held yesterday , April 17, 2026 at Igga Community, brought together former Council Chairmen, Former Commissioners,SSAs , Councilors, traditional rulers, youths among other prominent Leaders.

Speaking during the meeting, Barr.Chijioke Ezugwu, described the meeting as a significant step towards addressing the recent security challenges in the zone. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring Uzo-uwani identity as the “Home of Peace and Prosperity”, assuring that the outcome of the engagement would translate into concrete actions.

The meeting critically reviewed the security situation in the zone, with various speakers expressing concern over the persistent involvement of indigenes in the criminal activities in the zone.
The Leaders, however, resolved to work collectively towards ending insecurity and other vices by promoting sustainable peace, strengthening unity and encouraging harmonious coexistence amongst communities in Ogboli Zone Viz:Adani, Igga, Asaba, Ogurugu and Ojjor.

Parts of the resolutions reached includes constitution of a new Security Special Squad to be drawn from the five Communities, rebuilding fractured relationships among communities and restoring trust, using local means as a foundation for lasting peace and security.

The meeting comes amid renewed concerns over the recent insecurity in parts of the council, with the government intensifying efforts in collaboration with security agencies and community Leaders to restore normalcy.

Stakeholders, traditional rulers and dignitaries from the zone that attended the meeting include immediate past Commissioner of Agric,Dr.Matthew Idu, Former Council Chairmen from the zone, Hon.Ademu and Chief Richard Egwuma, Former SSA to the former Governor, Barr. Vincent Diugwu, Chairman Enugu North Traditional rulers Council, HRH Igwe (Dr), Herbert Ukuta and other traditional rulers, Dr Agbata Ernest Okechukwu, Engr. Ucheonwu Henry Hart, Hon.Christian Ademu , SSA to the Chairman On Agriculture, Hon.Charles Okoye amongst other Stakeholders.

The Chairman was accompanied to the meeting with the Nigerian Navy Captain Uzo-uwani Unit, Captain S.Bala, DPO Adani Division,ASP Amawu Francis, DPO Umulokpa, ASP Ifeanyi Edom, Civil Defense, and other sister security agencies, former Deputy Chairman of Uzo-uwani LGA, Hon.Maxwell Odamkpa, SSA On Security, Dr.Anayo Odamkpa, SPA Political, Hon.Felix Ozota amongst other Stakeholders.
