President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated his Senior Special Assistant on Digital Engagement, Strategy and New Media, Mr Otega Ogra, on his election into the Executive Committee of the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA).

Ogra was elected on Tuesday during the organisation’s Annual General Meeting held at the Global Marketing Week Conference in Stockholm, Sweden.

Reacting to the development, Tinubu described the feat as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s growing influence in global communications, noting that Ogra’s emergence as the only representative from West Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa on the committee reflects the depth of Nigerian expertise in the industry.

According to the President, the election also highlights the contributions of a new generation of young Nigerian professionals to global industry standards.

Ogra secured his seat on the Executive Committee on the platform of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria, a development Tinubu said underscores the role of Nigeria’s organised advertising and marketing sector in shaping global representation.

The WFA is regarded as the leading global body for advertisers, representing over 150 multinational and Fortune 500 companies, as well as national advertiser associations across more than 60 countries.

Tinubu noted that Ogra’s election is both a personal achievement and a strategic opportunity for Nigeria and Africa, positioning the region at the centre of global conversations on brand trust, innovation, media transparency and the future of marketing communications.

The President commended Ogra, who also serves as Vice President of ADVAN, for his contributions to Nigeria’s marketing and communications ecosystem, drawing from his experience across banking, manufacturing and the public sector.

“Otega’s election reflects the growing recognition of Nigerian expertise and affirms our capacity to contribute meaningfully to frameworks shaping global markets,” Tinubu said.

He added that the development aligns with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in promoting the creative economy, strengthening digital governance and positioning Nigeria as a hub for innovation.

Also elected into the WFA leadership team are Josh Faulks and Simon Michaelides.

Meanwhile, current executives, including WFA President David Wheldon and Deputy President Philip Myers, will continue in their respective roles.
