Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Bianca Ojukwu as Minister of Foreign Affairs, describing the move as a demonstration of inclusive governance and national cohesion.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ohanenye lauded the President’s “exemplary leadership and inclusive approach to governance,” noting that the appointment reflects a commitment to fairness, merit and unity across the country.

She said the choice of Ojukwu, who hails from Anambra State, sends a positive signal to the people of the South-East, adding that the elevation of the state to such a strategic position in Nigeria’s diplomatic architecture is both “honourable and reassuring.”

According to her, “the gesture is a clear demonstration of the administration’s commitment to fairness, national unity, and the recognition of competence across all regions of the country.”

Ohanenye also congratulated the new minister, whom she described as a sister, on what she termed a “well-deserved promotion,” expressing confidence in her capacity to deliver on the mandate of the office.

“I am confident that my sister will bring dignity, excellence, and strong representation to Nigeria’s foreign relations, further strengthening our nation’s presence on the global stage,” she stated.
The former minister further wished Ojukwu a successful and impactful tenure, while reaffirming her support and goodwill.

She also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for what she described as “a significant honour to Ndi Anambra,” stressing that the appointment would further strengthen national integration and inspire confidence in the current administration’s leadership style.
